Woman Tries To Put A US Soldier In His Place. Here’s How That Worked Out.
No matter where you stand politically on matters of war and national security, there’s one thing that we can all agree on: Soldiers make tremendous sacrifices for our country, and sometimes even with their lives.
As such, they’re afforded certain much-deserved perks back on the home front, including military discounts at many stores and restaurants. Here’s what happened when one soldier asked for his discount — though someone certainly wasn’t happy about it, the end of this story will put a smile on your face.
We like to think that any officer in uniform, whether here or abroad, is treated with the utmost respect.
Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
One soldier took to Facebook to tell his story about being disrespected.
Here’s what he wrote.
“As a military vet who has served two tours in Afghanistan, and I’m still on active duty (though I’m now stationed locally in the US),” he wrote.
“I don’t expect special treatment from civilians for my service, but I do know that many stores offer discounts to active military personnel so I usually ask cashiers if they offer the discount. Today, I encountered someone really rude when I asked – and it wasn’t the cashier. I had to say something.”
Here’s how their conversation went:
Me: Do you offer military discount?
Cashier: No sir we don’t.
Lady in line behind me: Rude…
*Cashier and I stare blankly at her
Lady: All of you think you’re entitled because you’re in the military deserve special privileges. My God…
Me: No ma’am. It’s a discount not a privilege. A privilege is being able to go home to your family every night because some people willingly give up their “privileges” so people like you can have them.
